NORTH STONINGTON — The St. Bernard/Wheeler boys lacrosse team would get all the goals it needed in the first quarter, thanks to a stout performance by junior goalkeeper Danny Schroeder, and defeated ECC Division II rival Stonington High, 8-2, on a rainy and muddy Thursday afternoon at Wheeler High.

    GROTON — Nolan Arruda won his match at No. 1, but the Wheeler High golf team lost to Fitch, 5.5-1.5, at Shennecossett Golf Course on Tuesday in the season-opening match for both teams.

      NORTH STONINGTON — Plainfield scored 12 runs in the third inning and went on to a 24-0 victory over Wheeler in an ECC out-of-division softball game Thursday.

        NORTH STONINGTON — Tourtellotte scored 18 runs in the fifth inning and defeated Wheeler High, 26-9, in an ECC Division IV softball game on Tuesday.

            STONINGTON — Montville limited Wheeler High to just six points in the first half and beat the Lions, 51-30, in an ECC Division IV girls basketball game on Friday night at Stonington High.

              SALISBURY, Conn. — Evan Tower scored three goals and had an assist and Kyle Jacobson scored twice with one assist to lead the Eastern Connecticut Eagles over Housatonic, 5-3, in a Nutmeg Conference ice hockey game Friday night at the Hotchkiss School.

                ENFIELD, Conn. — Evan Tower scored three goals and assisted on two others as the Eastern Connecticut Eagles clinched a playoff spot with a win against Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks, 6-1, at Enfield Twin Rinks on Saturday.

                  NEW LONDON — Ryan Huta had a goal and an assist as the Eastern Connecticut Eagles tied Branford, 2-2, in a nonconference ice hockey game Monday at Connecticut College.
