The Rhode Island Interscholastic League received the green light from state officials on Thursday for a football season this spring. Games are expected to begin in late March.

      WESTERLY — Luke Donato won two races and swam on two winning relays as the Westerly High boys swim team defeated Classical, 57-30, in the Division II quarterfinals Thursday at the Ocean Community YMCA.

        WOOD RIVER JCT. — Juliana Voisinet scored 12 points, dished out three assists and had five steals as Westerly Middle beat Chariho, 42-22, in a girls basketball game on Thursday.

          WESTERLY — Dante Wilk scored 17 points, 14 in the first half, and Westerly High improved its rebounding to earn its first win of the year, 81-49, against Cranston East in a Division I boys basketball game Thursday night.
