WESTERLY — The Rhody Wave Runners finished the fall travel softball season with a 10-0 record, earning wins over the Exeter Waves and the North Kingston RipTide on Sunday at Cimalore Field.

In the first game, Wave Runners pitchers held the Waves to only three hits in a 6-1 victory.

Ava D’Ortona, Lyla Auth and Tori Gabriele split the game in the pitching circle and combined for seven strikeouts. Gabriele led the way offensively with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Isabella Austin scored twice.

In the second game, the Wave Runners beat the RipTide, 16-2, finishing with 15 hits.

D’Ortona, Gabriele, and Auth split the game pitching again, allowing only one hit. Eden Hewes, Austin, Sara Arnold, Abby Emery and Ella Keegan each had multiple hits.

“Our girls played well this fall. We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the game of softball together," coach Gerry Auth said. "Our pitching is showing more consistency and our hitting is improving as our players adjust to improved competition. We still have a lot to learn about the game and I’m looking forward to working with the girls again next spring.”
