GROTON — The Stonington Juniors opened their football season with a 34-6 loss to Groton-Mystic on Sunday at Poquonnock Plains Park.

Defensively, the Bears were led by lineman Ben Lewis, who recorded multiple tackles for a loss. Wyatt Woodcock and Aden Reale each forced and recovered a fumble in the contest.

Max Massengale led the Stonington offense, rushing for 100 yards and a score.

The Bears will next host Ledyard on Sunday at Stonington High.
