CUMBERLAND — Chariho's Varsity scored four times in the first half and defeated Cumberland, 36-19, in a Rhode Island Preteen Youth Football League game Sunday.
Nate Winthrop scored on a 40-yard pass from Konnor Perrin. Amani Boamah scored on a 45-yard run and kicked three extra points. Corbin Maraia scored on a 45-yard run and Collin Fitts scored from 43 yards out.
Lucas Corah returned an interception 70-yards for a score.
Chariho (4-0) host Tri-Town on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Griswold 61, Westerly Seniors 38
WESTERLY — Romello Hamelin ran for one touchdown and passed for another, but the Westerly Seniors lost to Griswold in a Southern New England Youth Football Conference game Sunday.
Hamelin scored on a 1-yard run and passed to Eric Fusaro 30 yards for another score.
Zack Albanese scored on a pair of 52-yard runs. Andre Adams had the other TD on a 5-yard run. Andrew Bozek kicked four extra points.
Westerly (2-3) hosts Norwich on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Chariho Jr. Peewees 7, Cumberland 0
CUMBERLAND — Dusin Peno scored on a 5-yard run as Chariho earned the win Sunday.
Carter Hopkins ran in the extra point. Hopkins and Mike Newton each rushed for about 50 yards thanks to a strong performance from the offensive line.
Adchaeu Harris played well at cornerback for the Chariho defense. Ezrah Schonrog, Naishon Appleton-King, Riley Finnert, and Reese Murphy also played well defensively.
Chariho (3-1) hosts Burrillville on Sunday.
Chariho Peewees 31, Cumberland 0
CUMBERLAND — Five Chariho players scored in Sunday's win.
Harrison England scored on a 1-yard run and Trevor Cheney caught a 22-yard pass from Camren Jones.
Randy Gobern (4 yards), Brayden Landgren (25) and Lucas Callahan (27) also scored on runs. England ran in a PAT.
Linebackers Reilly Porter and Damin Cook had four tackles each. Jones, Bruce Price, Daiman Senna, Ethan Jones and Gobern also played well on defense as Cumberland had just one first down. Price and Senna had tackles for a loss.
Chariho (2-2) hosts Burrillville on Sunday.
New London 47, Stonington Juniors 13
STONINGTON — Max Massengale rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the loss to New London on Sunday at Palmer Field.
Massengale also ran in an extra point. Tristan Main caught a 30-yard pass from Garrett Lenihan to set up Massengale's first TD run. Main finished with 80 all-purpose yards.
Ben Lewis recovered a fumble and Massengale blocked an extra point.
Stonington hosts Killingly on Sunday.
Griswold 25, Westerly Juniors 13
WESTERLY — Terrell Hill scored a pair of touchdowns, but the Westerly Juniors lost to undefeated Griswold Sunday.
Hill scored on runs of 53 and 50 yards. Logan Startz caught a conversion pass from Caleb Williams.
Mateo Lamphere and Williams each had six tackles for a piece. Jake Caron and Brayden Antoch each had an interception.
Westerly next hosts Windham Sunday at 1 p.m.
