GROTON — Stonington High's Sam Light captured the ECC wrestling championship at 152 pounds on Saturday during the tournament at Fitch.

Light defeated New London's Max Commander, 6-4, in overtime to capture the title. The bout was tied 4-4 after three periods, but Light was able to get a takedown 18 seconds into overtime for the win.

Light, the No. 1 seed, got an escape with 48 seconds left in the second period to tie the bout at 4.

Light (25-2) opened the tournament with a 15-3 win over NFA's Jose Aguilar. He then beat Killingly's Colby Zvingilas, 5-1, in the semifinals.
