MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Stonington High's Delaney Reck placed eighth in the 100 yard backstroke at the Class L girls swimming championship meet at Wesleyan University on Wednesday.

Reck finished the distance in 1:03.49. Reck was 15th in the 50 freestyle (25.56).

Stonington's Hope Sowle swam a leg on the 200 medley relay team that placed 20th (2:15.60).

Finella Smith, who lives in Pawcatuck and attends the Science & Technology Magnet School of Southeastern Connecticut in New London, and Reck also swam on two relays.

They were on the 400 freestyle relay that placed 14th (3:59.19). They also swam on the 200 free relay that placed 10th (1:46.32).

Reck, Sowle and Smith all swam for the Fitch/Stonington/New London co-op team that placed 14th of 20 teams with 128 points.

Darien took first with 778 points.
