NORTH STONINGTON — Wheeler High scored 16 runs over the final three innings to defeat Ellis Tech, 24-10, in a nonleague softball game Thursday.

Ellis Tech (4-8) had scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 8. But Wheeler scored five runs in the fourth, five more in the fifth and six in the sixth to take a 24-10 lead.

Julie Rudd drove in three runs for the Lions (4-7). Addie Hauptmann was 3 for 4 with four runs scored, and Marissa Bergel drove in two runs and scored three times. Sam Caster also scored four times.

Hauptmann pitched all seven innings to earn the victory. She struck out eight.

Wheeler next travels to Windham on Monday at 4 p.m.
