WILLIMANTIC — Wheeler High rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth, but fell to Windham, 4-3, in an ECC Division IV softball game Monday.
Windham's Isabelle Perez pitched a perfect game into the sixth before the Lions broke loose for three runs to make it 3-3. Savannah Galluci's two-run double tied it.
Windham (8-5, 5-1 ECC Division IV) scored once in the sixth to lead 4-3. Wheeler loaded the bases in the seventh, but the game ended on forceout at first base on a close call.
Addie Hauptmann drove in Wheeler's other run. Hauptmann pitched all six innings and took the loss. She struck out seven.
Wheeler (4-8, 2-6) had lost to Windham, 13-3, earlier in the season.
Wheeler coach Joe Cawley said it was one of the team's better performances of the season.
Wheeler next hosts Norwich Tech on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
