WESTERLY — Miranda Carreiro and Megan Albamonti each had three hits, including a triple, and Westerly High rolled past Middletown, 12-1, in a Division II softball game Friday.

The contest was stopped in the fifth inning by the mercy rule. Carreiro's two-run single ended the game. She finished 3 for 3 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

The win was the third straight for the Bulldogs (3-1, 3-1 Division II).

"We made the plays," coach Chris Luppe said. "Gabby [Brennan at second base] turned a big double play for us, and we got hits with people on."

Albamonti was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Elena Murdock had two hits and two RBIs, and Ally Northup tripled and drove in three runs. Timmary Main added two hits and two runs scored.

Northup, the winning pitcher, allowed one unearned run in five innings. She struck out four and walked one.

Middletown dropped to 1-3, 1-3.

Westerly next plays at Exeter-West Greenwich on Monday at noon.
