WESTERLY — Miranda Carreiro and Ally Northup drove in three runs each as Westerly High shut out winless Classical, 16-0, in a Division II softball game Friday at Cimalore Field.

Carreiro scored three times, and Northup doubled.

Northup was also the winning pitcher, limiting Classical to one hit in the five-inning game halted by the mercy rule. She struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.

Alex Mitchell finished 2 for 3, and Emma Stahl doubled and drove in two runs.

Westerly (11-4, 11-3 Division II) led 9-0 after two innings. Classical dropped to 0-16, 0-14.

Westerly next travels to Middletown on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game.
