STONINGTON — Stonington High managed just three hits and lost to Waterford, 6-2, in the annual Play for the Cure ECC Division II softball game Tuesday.

Stonington took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Waterford answered with one in the third and four in the fifth to lead 5-2.

Maddie Stepski tripled and drove in a run for the Bears (9-8, 4-3 Division II). Sarah Flakus also had an RBI.

Starter Elaina Previty pitched the first five innings and took the loss.

Waterford improved to 13-5, 6-1. Stonington next travels to Griswold on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game. Waterford and Griswold each have one league loss with a game remaining.
