MONTVILLE — Maddie Perkins put Wheeler High ahead with a two-run single in the top of the seventh and the Lions went on to St. Bernard, 15-12, in an ECC Division IV softball game Thursday.

Perkins' hit gave Wheeler a 13-12 lead. Perkins finished 3 for 4 with four runs scored and three RBIs.

Addie Hauptmann, Marissa Bergel and Savannah Galluci finished with two hits each. Julie Rudd and Galluci also doubled.

Hauptmann pitched all seven innings to earn the win. She struck out four.

St. Bernard is 1-3, 1-3 ECC Division IV. Wheeler (1-4, 1-3) next travels to Putnam for a doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 2 p.m.
