WOONSOCKET — Alex Mitchell homered, tripled and drove in three runs as Westerly High downed Woonsocket, 16-1, in a Division II softball game Wednesday.

Mitchell finished 3 for 4 and scored four times. The game was called after five innings by the mercy rule.

Miranda Carreiro was 3 for 3 with four RBIs and a triple. Elena Murdock finished 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs. Gabby Brennan also drove in two runs. Brooklyn Mitchell doubled.

Westerly (4-1, 4-1 Division II) finished with 17 hits.

Ally Northup struck out seven and only walked two to earn the win.

Woonsocket dropped to 2-3, 2-3 Division II.

Westerly next hosts Burrillville on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
