WARWICK — Westerly High lost to one of the top Division I teams in the state, 5-4, in a nonleague softball game Wednesday.

Pilgrim (17-1) did not start its No. 1 starting pitcher, Cat Fallon, but most of the Patriots' other starters played in the game. Pilgrim has a solid shot at earning the No. 1 seed in the Division I tournament.

Alex Mitchell finished 3 for 4 with an RBI for Westerly and Alexa Beal drove in two runs. Megan Albamonti was 2 for 3 and Timmary Main tripled.

Ally Northup struck out six and allowed just six hits to take the loss.

Westerly (12-5) next hosts Exeter-West Greenwich on Thursday at 6 p.m.
