WESTERLY — A pair of Massachusetts runners were the top finishers in the Surftown Half Marathon on Sunday.
Conor Cashin of Brighton, Massachusetts, was first across the line on the 13.1-mile course in 1:11:47.
Amy Tortorello of Watertown, Massachusetts, was the top female runner with a time of 1:20:40. She placed ninth overall.
Steven deCastro of Pawcatuck was the top local finisher, placing 13th in 1:23.47.
Kelsey Davidson of Pawatuck was the top local female runner, finishing 84th overall in 1:43:16. She was 22nd among the female competitors.
The next 10 local male finishers were Matt Forde, Mystic (27th, 1:30:27); Kevin Murphy, Pawcatuck (99th, 1:45:04); James Murphy, Westerly (134th, 1:48:54); Brian Valente, Westerly (143rd, 1:50:06); Joel Valenti, Stonington (147th, 1:50:24); Nicholas Bouchard, Westerly (150th, 1:50:40); Gary Burfoot, Mystic (153rd, 1:51:00); Jeremy Nossel, Wyoming (160th, 1:51:48); Steve Riley, Mystic (172nd, 1:52:42); and Oliver Page, Westerly (187th, 8:44).
The next 10 local female finishers were Emma Zumsande, Stonington (164th, 1:52:02); Pam Dolan, Mystic (166th, 1:52:13); Melanie Diamanti, Pawcatuck (173rd, 1:53:18); Linda Cunningham, Pawcatuck (188th, 1:54:24); Stacey Leitz, Westerly (202nd, 1:55:39); Linda Colucci, Westerly (206th, 1:55:54); Ann Moore, Westerly (211th, 1:56:26); Lauren Smith, Westerly (254th, 1:59:28); Karen Dobley, North Stonington (266th, 2:00:36); and Pamela Porter, Mystic (288th, 2:02:40).
The half marathon had 773 finishers.
The event, which is conducted by the Hartford Marathon Foundation, also had a 5K race that had 288 finishers.
Caitlin Abelseth of Brighton, Massachusetts, won the race in 18:14. Michael Zegarzewski was the top male finisher in 19:51. He placed third overall.
Kaitlyn Kumpf of North Stonington was the top local finisher, placing seventh in 21:38. Amanda Quinones of Hope Valley was eighth (21:49).
Jeremy Anderson of North Stonington was the top local male finishers placing 11th (22:21). Eric Garofano of Mystic was 12th (22:24).
