STONINGTON — Tanner Kelly was the first overall finisher in the third annual Stonington Cross Country Fun Run at Stonington High on Wednesday.

Kelly, a Westerly High junior-to-be, finished the 5K (3.2 miles) in 19:52. He was followed by Mario Costa of Pawcatuck (20:40) and John Hursh of Newport (20:47). Jeff Walker of Westerly was fourth (20:54).

Erin vonHousen, 13, of Westerly took first place in the female division, in 23:24, good for 18th overall. Laura Asbury of Ledyard was second (24:24, 22nd overall), and Sara Kearney of Westerly was third (24:34, 23rd). Kaya West of Westerly was the fourth female across the line (24:54, 27th).

There were 96 finishers in the Westerly Track and Athletic Club event.

In the ½-mile children's race, Westerly's Greg West was the top boy, in 5:20; Dorothy Kearney of Westerly was the top girl (7:36).
