Outlook: Chariho would like to advance beyond the Division II semifinals this season.
Ahern hopes to have players with the the ability to play various positions throughout the game, giving the team plenty of flexibility.
“I want them to be able to play just about anywhere and be able to use both feet,” Ahern said.
Dylan Jessop is the team’s top returning scorer with 10 goals and three assists last season. His brother, Devan Jessop, finished with four goals and six assists. They will play in the midfield or in the back.
Miller, Rainey, Yaccord and Berry will also get time in the back. Dube, Nilson and Rainey could also play in the midfield. The two Jessops, Allamby, Rainey and Nilson could all play up front.
Linacre will be the starting goalie.
“I think our defense and our goalie will be our strenghts,” Ahern said. “We are going to be strong right down the middle. We want to build from the center out. We need to get a little quicker, thinking a play or two ahead. We have been working hard on that and it’s starting to show.”
Coach’s take: “They want to get back to the final four. I think it’s achievable. It isn’t easy. If they work hard, they can get there.”
