NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Justus Burke hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth inning, David Beam had three hits and three RBIs and the Mystic Schooners snapped a three-game New England Collegiate Baseball League losing streak Thursday night with a 7-4 win over the New Bedford Bay Sox at Paul Walsh Field.

Burke (Allen County CC) doubled home Isaiah Byars (Alabama) in the eighth to give Mystic a 5-4 lead. Byars had drawn a one-out walk.

Beam (East Tennessee State) and TT Bowens (Central Connecticut State) later added RBI singles in the inning.

Burke finished 3 for 4 and scored a run. Beam was 3 for 6, including a double, and scored twice. Beam is fifth in the NECBL in hitting with a .373 average.

Mystic (19-17-1, third place Southern Division) used five pitchers in the victory. Jordan Warecke (Saint Peters) entered in the fifth and earned the win. Warecke (1-0) allowed one run on three hits and one walk in three innings. He struck out one.

New Bedford fell to 11-26.
