NEWPORT — Newport's Sam Jacobsak limited Mystic to one hit through six inning as the Schooners lost to the Gulls, 5-2, in a New England Collegiate Baseball League playoff game Saturday night.

The loss ended the season for Mystic.

Jacobsak (Northeastern) allowed just five hits and one earned run while striking out two to earn the victory.

Steven Barmakian (George Washington) and Nolan Kessinger (UMass) finished with two hits each for Mystic.

TT Bowens (Central Connecticut) drove in a run to give him 54 for the season. Bowens led the NECBL in RBIs during the regular season with 53, a league record.

Bowens, who played at Montville High, also led the league in home runs with 16. The league record is 19.

Newport led 5-1 after five innings.

Trey McLoughlin (Fairfield) pitched the first three innings for Mystic and took the loss. He allowed two earned runs.
