GROTON — Jerome Huntzinger doubled and drove in three runs as the Mystic Schooners beat the Newport Gulls, 11-3, in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Fitch High Saturday.

Huntzinger (Seton Hall) finished 2 for 4 and is hitting .339 for the season. He has six doubles.

Mystic (15-7) put up five runs in the first inning and two in the second to take a 7-0 lead.

Vincent Martin (UMass-Lowell) doubled and drove in two runs.

TT Bowens (Central Connecticut) finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Tyler Schoff (Bryant) pitched the first five innings to earn his first win of the season. Schoff struck out five and allowed just one earned run.

Newport dropped to 13-9.
