GROTON — Matthew Toke led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a single and eventually scored on Isaiah Byars' fielder's choice to lift the Mystic Schooners to a 9-8 walk-off win over the New Bedford Bay Sox in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game Thursday at Fitch High.

The win was the third in a row for Mystic (13-7, second place Southern Division).

In the ninth, Toke (Seton Hall) singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and wound up on third after a fly out and two walks.

Byars (Alabama) then hit into his fielder's choice on a 1-2 pitch to score Toke. Byars finished 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

The Schooners led 4-0 after the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Vincent Martin (UMass Lowell).

The Bay Sox (5-15) would tie it at 4 in the third, and, later, lead 8-5 before Mystic struck for three runs in the eighth — Byars had an RBI single, and Will Lucas (UConn) and Steve Barmakian (George Washington) each doubled in a run to make it 8-8 heading into the ninth.

Nicholas Robino (3-0) pitched a perfect ninth to pick up the victory. Robino (Wagner) struck out two.
