GROTON — The Newport Gulls scored five runs in the ninth inning and beat Mystic, 7-6, on Saturday at Fitch High, handing the Schooners their fourth straight New England Collegiate Baseball League loss.

Zaid Walker (Michigan State) doubled in two runs and Ryan Toohers (Villanova) hit a two-run home run to highlight the ninth for Newport (10-5).

Mystic (10-7) led 6-2 heading into the ninth. Steve Barmakian (George Washington) hit a two-run single in the second, and TT Bowens (Central Connecticut) had a two-run double in the fourth.

Unfortunately for the Schooners, Bowens' double accounted for their last two runs.
