MONTPELIER, Vt. — TT Bowens, of the Mystic Schooners, won the New England Collegiate Baseball League home run contest during the league's All-Star night Sunday.

Bowens (Central Connecticut), who played at Montville High, hit 24 balls out in the championship round. Bowens hit 16 homers in the first round to finish with 40 for the night. His longest homer went 450 feet, according to the league's Twitter feed.

Bowens has hit 13 home runs for the Schooners this season, second in the league. He leads the league in RBIs with 43 and is hitting .319.

The ensuing All-Star game was cancelled due to rain.

Schooners 7, Muskrats 0

LACONIA, N.H. — Luke LaFlam limited Winnipesaukee to one hit and struck out five as the Mystic Schooners defeated the Muskrats in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game Saturday night.

LaFlam (Arizona State) pitched 5-⅔ innings to pick up his first victory of the season.

Designated hitter Jerome Huntzinger (Seton Hall) was 2 for 5 with four RBIs. Huntzinger is now hitting .333.

David Beam (East Tennessee State), TT Bowens (Central Connecticut) and Nolan Kessinger (UMass) contributed two hits each. Kessinger also doubled and Steven Barmakian (George Washington) tripled.

Mystic improved to 20-18-1, while Winnipesaukee fell to 11-26.

Mystic is in third place in the Southern Division.
