GROTON — Alan Burnsed hit a pair of homers and Martha's Vineyard pounded out 13 hits to defeat the Mystic Schooners, 16-7, in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game Friday at Fitch High.

Burnsed (Central Florida) has nine homers this season. The Sharks (24-14) led 9-1 after four innings.

Mystic (19-18-1) did score six runs in the seventh to make it, 12-7, but could get no closer.

Isaiah Byars (Alabama) doubled and drove in three runs for Mystic. Byars has 27 RBIs this season. David Beam (East Tennessee State) doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Starter Nash Eppard (Bryant) pitched into the fourth inning and took the loss.
