NARRAGANSETT — Rachel Federico scored with 1 seconds remaining as the Westerly Middle girls basketball team opened the season with a win against Narragansett, 19-17, on Thursday.

Federico scored on a shot underneath the basket after receiving a pass from Gia Keegan. Federico finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and eight steals. Keegan had five rebounds and four steals. Dina Arnold contributed six steals and four rebounds.

Westerly hosts Deering on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
