KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — Mystic has advanced to the title game of the Section 3, 11-12 Little League All-Star baseball tournament with a pair of victories.

Mystic defeated Wethersfield, 8-0, on Friday night and shut out Madison, 4-0, Saturday morning. They will play one of those teams on Monday for the sectional title.

Traces Morales and Griffin Pollard combined to shut out Wethersfield.

Morales pitched the first four innings allowing one hit with eight strikeouts. He walked just one batter. Pollard pitched the final two innings. Finn Eck, Jayden Carter and Morales contributed two hits each to Mystic's 12-hit attack.

Mystic scored five runs in the second inning and three more in the fifth.

Liam Joyce pitched a complete game four-hitter in the win against Madison Saturday morning. Joyce struck out seven and walked one.

Eck, Pollard, Dylan Joyce and Hayden Chappel all had hits for Mystic.

New London/Mystic 4, Sudbury, Mass. 2

COMMACK & DIX HILLS, N.Y. — Derrell Mitchell struck out 15 as New London/Mystic defeated Sudbury, Massachusetts in the Intermediate Eastern Regional on Saturday.

He allowed just two hits in six innings. Mitchell also homered in the fifth.

Martin Light and Sid Bulusu had multiple hits for the winners. Landon Hill stole seven bases.

The team opened the tournament with a 12-1 loss to New Jersey on Friday.


Groton/Mystic 18, Middletown 5

DURHAM — Groton/Mystic's 8-10 All-Star team advanced to the Section 3 championship game with the win Friday.

Friday's game was halted after four innings by the mercy rule. Isabel Southern finished with four RBIs and three runs scored. Breea Gilruth drove in three runs and had two hits. 

Winning pitcher Jillian Fugere allowed just three hits and finished with seven strikeouts.
