STONINGTON — Jillian Fugere struck out nine as Groton/Mystic defeated Waterford, 9-5, in the District 10 Little League 8-10 softball tournament on Tuesday at the Pawcatuck Little League complex.

Fugere pitched a complete game. Jaedyn Steffens had two hits, and Leilani McCoy drove in a pair for Groton/Mystic.

Groton/Mystic finished 4-0 in pool play and has drawn a bye in the double-elimination portion of the tournament. The team faces the winner of Pawcatuck vs. Salem-Montville on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pawatuck.
