WESTERLY — Jack Tenuta pitched a shutout and the Westerly National Little League Junior All-Stars scored nine runs in the fourth inning to defeat Exeter-West Greenwich, 11-0, on Wednesday in a District 3 baseball tournament game at Trombino Field.

The game was stopped in the fifth inning by the mercy rule.

Westerly stayed alive in the double-elimination tournament and will face Chariho on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Trombino. Chariho lost to East Greenwich, 10-2, on Wednesday. Chariho defeated Westerly, 10-9, in the tourney's first round.

Tenuta allowed one hit in five shutout innings. He struck out two and walked one.

Westerly's big fourth inning was sparked by Nick Tria, Rex Fagan, Travis Costa, Shep Simmons, Noah Burdick and Mike Nenna, who all drove in runs. Simmons and Burdick each doubled.

Westerly finished with 11 hits. Simmons and Tenuta had two apiece to lead the WNLL Junior All-Stars.
