NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Lila Rich finished second in the pole vault and Gwen Andersen took third in the 100 as Stonington High finished eighth in the Class M girls track meet Wednesday at Willow Brook Park.

Rich tied the school record by clearing 10 feet on her final attempt at that height. Anderson finished with a time of 13.05 in the 100 and placed sixth in the 200 (27.18). Andersen qualified for the State Open meet in the 100.

Stonington finished eighth with 26 points. Weston took first with 95.5, and Northwestern was second (48.5).

Stonington's 4x800 relay team of Lindsey Orr, Keegan Donohue, Kaleigh Bolduc and Emma Small placed third (10:07.41) and qualified for the Open.

Orr finished seventh in the 1,600 (5:25.88). The 4x100 relay team of Andersen, Nancy Inthasit, Vanessa Benjamin and Lucy Sternberg placed eighth (51.98).

The Open will take place Monday at Willow Brook Park at 2 p.m.
