WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Stonington High's Katie Johnstone and Chole Morehouse won a match and lost one during the State Open girls tennis tournament Saturday at Conard High.

Johnstone and Morehouse, both freshmen, beat Megan Quinn and Lily Ye, of Windsor Locks, 8-6, in a preliminary-round doubles match.

They lost to Grace Cahill and Gerri Fox of Wilton, 8-1, in the first round.

In singles, freshman Maddie Hamm lost to Sophia Chin of South Windsor, 9-8 (3), in the first round.
