GROTON — Three local swimmers helped the Fitch/Stonington/New London girls co-op swim team to a third-place at the ECC championships Saturday at UConn-Avery Point.

The co-op team finished with 326 points. East Lyme took the title with 583.5 points and Waterford was second with 330.5.

Stonington High's Delaney Reck was second in the 100 backstroke (1:02.41) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:05.62). Reck swam a leg on the first-place 400 free relay (3:50.93) and the second-place 200 free relay (1:46.13).

Finella Smith, who lives in Pawcatuck and attends the Science & Technology Magnet School of Southeastern Connecticut in New London, scored in several races.

Smith finished second in the 100 free (58.56) and fourth in the 50 free (26.48).

She was on the first-place 400 free relay and the second-place 200 free relay.

Stonington's Hope Sowle placed fifth in the 200 IM (2:31.88) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.23).

She also swam a leg on the fourth-place 200 medley relay team (2:12.97).
