WESTERLY — Jessica Burke improved upon her school record in the 100 butterfly as the Westerly High girls swim team defeated the Lincoln School, 52-42, in a Rossi Division meet Wednesday night at the Ocean Community YMCA.
Burke covered the distance in a time of 1:03.07 to take first place. Her previous record of 1:03.73 was established at the Bay View Invitational last season.
She also won the 500 freestyle (6:10.44).
Her sister, Jenna Burke, took first in the 200 free (2:15.05) and the 50 free (26.59).
Melanie Gomes placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.37) and was second in the 200 individual medley (2:25.42). Myranda Johnstone won the 100 free (1:07.57).
Emma Turano finished third in the 200 free (2:31.68) and the 100 free (1:09.17).
Other third-place finishers were Lindsey Pride (500 free, 7:45.29); Grace Armstrong (100 backstroke, 1:20.8); and Jordan Allen (100 breaststroke, 1:27.04).
The Burkes, Gomes and Johnstone won the 200 medley relay (2:01.54) and the 200 free relay (1:54.12).
Armstrong, Allen, Turano and Timmary Main placed second in the 200 free relay (2:03.25). Main, Turano, Johnstone and Allen finished second in the 400 free relay (4:46.78).
Armstrong, Jenni Pringer, Kata Cummings and Lindsey Pride were third in the 400 free (5:06.48).
Main, Cummings, Pride and Armstrong finished third in the 200 medley relay (2:25.17).
