PROVIDENCE — Melanie Gomes won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team, but the Westerly High girls swimming team lost to Moses Brown, 54-40, in a Rossi Division meet Friday at Rhode Island College.

Gomes won the 100 freestyle, in 59.71, and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.81). She teamed with Jenna Burke, Jessica Burke and Myranda Johnstone to place first in the 200 medley relay (2:01.13).

Jenna Burke also won an individual event for Westerly (4-1, 4-1 Rossi Division), the 50 freestyle (26.82), and she was second in the 100 backstroke (1:05.65).

Jessica Burke was second in the 200 free (2:08.88) and 500 free (time unavailable), and Lindsey Pride was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly (1:25.64).

Two Westerly relays finished second, the 200 free team of Jenna Burke, Gomes, Johnstone and Jessica Burke (1:50.54), and the 400 free team of Grace Armstrong, Jordan Allen, Emma Turano and Johnstone (4:39.85).

Third-place finishers were Allen (200 individual medley, 2:55.85; 100 breaststroke, 1:28.16); Johnstone (100 fly, 1:25.82); and Turano (100 fly, 1:25.82).

Moses Brown improved to 4-0 overall and in the Rossi Division.

 Westerly next swims at Portsmouth on Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
