MONTVILLE — Montville scored the game's only goal with about 24 minutes remaining and defeated Stonington High, 1-0, in an ECC out-of-division girls soccer game Monday.

The loss ended Stonington's season — the Bears did not qualify for the ECC or state tournament. Stonington finished 5-10-1.

Stonington was winless over its last six games (0-5-1). Four of the losses were by 1-0 margins.

"We played great, but it was a goal [that we lost on that was] similar to the past few games," Stonington coach Jennifer Solomon said. "There was a loose ball, they struck it and it went in."

Stonington outshot Montville, 13-6. Montville improved to 6-7-3.
