MIDDLETOWN — Middletown scored the game's only goal midway through the first half and beat Westerly High, 1-0, in a Division II girls soccer game Monday night.

"We had some great chances and opportunities, and their goalie made some nice saves," Westerly coach Jay Hudson said. "It was a very competitive game."

Westerly goalie Mackenzie Fusaro came up with 12 saves. Westerly (2-1-0, 2-1-0 Division II) finished with 11 shots. Defender Nina Cillino and midfielders Rachel Dobson and Diana Turano played well for Westerly, Hudson said.

Middletown is 2-0-1, 2-0-1.

Westerly next hosts Middletown on Thursday at 6 p.m.
