WESTERLY — Lauren Dobson scored five goals and Diana Turano had three as top-seeded Westerly High opened the Division II girls lacrosse playoffs with a 13-7 win over Smithfield on Thursday at Augeri Field.

Westerly led 9-4 at the half and won 21 of the 22 draws. Kata Cummings, who scored two goals and assisted on another, won 10 draws.

Grace Armstrong finished with two goals and an assist. Ashley Amato also had a goal, and goalie Lexus Falcone finished with six saves.

No. 8 Smithfield finished the season 4-7. Westerly (11-1) will likely host Johnston in a semifinal game on Wednesday.
