NEW HAVEN — Stonington High's 4x800-meter relay team was second at the Class M girls state indoor track meet Saturday and the Bears finished 10th in the team standings.

Emma Small, Jessica Detwiler, Megan Detwiler and Lindsey Orr combined for a time of 9:56.86 in the closely contested race. Weston won in 9:55.41, a difference of 1.25 seconds.

Orr also placed fifth in the 1,000 (3:13.80).

Keegan Donohue finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing 8-6.

Stonington's 1,600 sprint medley relay team of Kaleigh Bolduc, Vanessa Benjamin, Megan Detwiler and Jessica Detwiler placed fifth in 4:33.34.

Stonington finished with 16 points. Hillhouse won the Class M title with 76 points to edge Weston (74). Twenty-three teams scored in the meet.

Stonington's 4x800 relay team and Donohue in the pole vault have a good chance of qualifying for the State Open meet on Saturday in New Haven at noon. That list will be announced on Sunday.
