DANIELSON, Conn. — Wheeler High held Ellis Tech to just three points in the second half — zero in the third quarter — and went on to a 54-20 nonleague girls basketball victory Monday.

Marissa Perkins had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Lions (11-7). Addie Hauptmann added 11 points and five assists, and Molly Butremovic had 10 points and five rebounds.

The victory ended a three-game skid.

"The key for us was just playing together," coach Dan McClure said. "The girls had some energy. They were coming off a losing streak and they came ready with a confidence about them. We played well. This was an opportunity to get back on track."

Sam Caster chipped in five points, six rebounds and nine assists for the Lions, who led 29-17 at halftime.

Ellis Tech dropped to 7-11.

Wheeler next hosts Putnam on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
