UNCASVILLE — St. Bernard's Lindsay Clement hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Saints over Wheeler High, 26-23, in an ECC Division II girls basketball tournament play-in game Wednesday night.

The seventh-seeded Saints outscored No. 10 Wheeler, 18-4, in the fourth quarter. Wheeler had a 19-8 lead heading into the final quarter.

"We were hustling, we were rebounding and we were letting the plays develop," Wheeler coach Christine Corah said.

The Wheeler roster has been decimated by injuries this season.

"We have players playing more minutes than they are used to," Corah said.

Sam Caster made two 3-pointers and finished with eight points for the Lions (5-15). She also led the team in rebounds with seven.

St. Bernard (8-13) will play at No. 2 Plainfield in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
