WESTERLY — Westerly High led from start to finish in its 48-41 win over Ponaganset in a Division II girls basketball game Tuesday.

Megan Albamonti led the Bulldogs (6-3, 5-0 Division II) with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

"It was a good team effort," coach Sue Haik said. "We had a lot of different people scoring and playing defense. It was a hard game. It was physical. Ponaganset's a good team, but the girls kept their composure to pull out the win."

Nine players scored at least one point for Westerly. Mia Capparelli hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points; Jenna Murray added seven. Capparelli and Alexa Beal each grabbed six rebounds.

McKenzie Field led the Chieftains (1-5, 1-3) with 13 points.

Westerly next plays at Cranston East on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
