STONINGTON — Miranda Arruda scored 23 points and the Stonington High girls basketball team rolled past Plainfield, 53-23, on Wednesday, snapping the Panthers' 10-game winning streak.
The Division II Bears (14-3) jumped to 16-2 first-quarter lead in the ECC out-of-division game, and held a 31-11 advantage at halftime.
Arruda grabbed nine rebounds to go with her game-high 23 points. Aliza Bell added nine points and 10 rebounds, Sophia Bell had nine boards, and Kate Johnson had six points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Division III Panthers fell to 12-6.
Stonington next plays at Killingly on Friday at 7 p.m.
