NORTH STONINGTON — Addie Hauptmann scored a career-high 24 points and the Wheeler High girls basketball team rolled past Hale-Ray, 58-15, in a nonleague game Monday night.

Hauptmann also had 13 steals and six rebounds to go with her 24 points.

"It was a terrific game for her," coach Dan McClure said.

The Lions (6-3) jumped to an 18-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back to snap a two-game losing streak.

"One of the biggest keys was getting off to a reasonably good start, which has been a hangup for us," McClure said.

Annie Dussault added five points, five assists and six steals, and Molly Butremovic had eight points and five rebounds.

Hale Ray fell to 1-6.

Wheeler next plays at Norwich Tech on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
