DANIELSON — Sam Caster scored 14 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Wheeler High girls basketball team defeated Ellis Tech, 39-20, on Thursday.

Caster score nine of her points in the first quarter, when the Lions took a 10-point lead, 13-3.

"She has really been working on her shot, and she is finally starting to get a rhythm," Wheeler coach Christine Corah said.

Leah Pion contributed eight points and five rebounds. Savannah Galluci led the Lions in rebounds with 10.

"We have a tendency to be hasty with our decisions and take the first shot we get. We have been doing a better job of letting plays develop," Corah said.

Wheeler (3-3) led 24-7 at the half. Ellis Tech dropped to 1-3 with the loss.

Wheeler next travels to Norwich Tech on Saturday for a 3:45 p.m. game.
