WARWICK — Justin Giles struck out seven and allowed just two runs as the Chariho Connie Mack baseball team topped Warwick PAL, 3-2, in a preliminary round state tournament game Monday night.

Giles pitched seven innings and allowed six hits.

Chariho will host Warwick in the second game of the best of three series Tuesday at Chariho High at 5:30 p.m.

Josh Smithey was 2 for 3. Giles and Alan Carpenter each drove in a run.
