SACO, Maine — Stonington High's Rhys Hammond finished seventh in the 800 at the 74th annual New England outdoor track championships Saturday at Thornton Academy.

Hammond finished with a time of 1:56.76, just .07 seconds from sixth and .69 seconds from fifth. The top six finishers are All-New England.

Conor Murphy of Classical (1:52.23) won the race, and Dariius Kipyego of Saint Raphaels was second (1:52.54), each below the previous track record.

Joey Hinckley cleared 13-3 to place 12th in the pole vault.
