SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chariho High finished second in three events and placed fifth as a team at the Southern Division boys track championships Tuesday at Curtis Corner Middle.

Tim Champlin was second in the 800 (1:58.67), trailing winner Sam Toolin of North Kingstown by less than a second, 1:58.07.

Finn Weeden placed second in the 3,000 (9:32.78), as did Kyle Merritt in the pole vault (10-0).

Chariho finished with 40.5 points. North Kingstown was first (185) and South Kingstown second (149.5).

James Penhallow placed third in the 1,500 (4:22.18). C.J. Elwell contributed a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 (9:42.71).

Josh Benros finished fifth in the triple jump (36-11.5) and sixth in the high jump (5-8).

Matt Dickerman was sixth in the 400 (56.26), as was Sullivan Cummins in the 800 (2:09.95).

Chariho's 4x400 relay team of Champlin, Cummins, Dickerman and Penhallow placed fifth (3:45.83).

Chariho next competes in the St. Germain Invitational at West Warwick on Saturday at 10 a.m.
