WEST HARTFORD — Stonington High's top singles player and doubles team advanced to the semifinals of the Class S boys tennis tournament Wednesday at Conard High.

No. 4 Jacob Stiger defeated No. 5 Nathan Comment of Westbrook, 6-3, 6-3. Stiger will face No. 1 seed Charlie Shanks of Litchfield in the semifinals Thursday at Wesleyan University in Middletown at 3:30 p.m.

In doubles, Stonington's Graham Johnstone and Kyle Remmert, the No. 4 seed, topped No. 5 Nicholas Fava and Timothy O'Brien of Old Lyme, 7-5, 7-6 (1), in the quarterfinals. They will face top-seeded Spencer Sivilla and Jack Honigmann of Litchfield in the semifinals Thursday at Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m.

Litchfield leads the team standings with 18 points. Stonington is third with nine.
