BURRILLVILLE — J.D. Dauphinais finished unbeaten at No. 3 singles in Division III and Westerly High defeated Burrillville, 5-2, in a boys tennis match Wednesday.

Dauphinais won 6-3, 6-0 to move to 12-0 in league play this season.

"This wins caps off an undefeated regular season for J.D.," Westerly coach Terence McAndrew said. "He has been our secret weapon as his wins have been routine and they provided confidence for the rest of the team."

Blake Busch won his match at No. 1. Busch won the first set 6-4. The second set was tied 5-5 when the Burrillville player retired due to a school commitment. Burrillville's National Honor Society banquet was Wednesday night.

No. 2 Ryan Texeira prevailed, 7-6 (5), 6-3, and Brandon Larossa won at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4.

Westerly's other win came at No. 1 doubles. Joel Henry and Kyle Cioffi lost the first set, 3-6, won the second, 7-6 (2) and Burrillville's duo retired before the third set started.

Burrillville dropped to 6-7, 6-7.

Westerly (11-2, 11-2) will likely play in the D-III quarterfinals at home on Tuesday. The semifinals are Thursday and the finals Saturday, all at Slater Park in Pawtucket.
