NEW LONDON — Stonington High's Alex Doerwaldt and Wheeler High's Michael Urgo each won two individual events and swam on the same winning relay team, but the Fitch co-op team lost to Amity, 94-71, on Friday in a nonleague boys swim meet at the UConn Avery Point pool.

Doerwaldt won the 200 individual medley (2:06.64) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.55). Urgo was first in the 50 freestyle (23.61) and the 100 butterfly (57.47). They were part of the first-place 400 free relay (3:35.12), and swam on the second-place 200 free relay.

Stonington's AJ Murko also won an event, the 100 freestyle (52.75), and was a member of the winning 400 free relay and the runner-up 200 free relay.

Matt Nowak was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.72) and was on the second-place 200 free relay.

Aaron Reck and Sam Youtt swam on the second-place 400 free relay; Youtt and Ian Sanok were part of the third-place 200 medley relay.

The co-op team is made up of swimmers from Fitch, Ledyard, New London, Stonington and Wheeler.

The squad next takes part in the Class LL state trials on March 14 at East Hartford.
